I have probably told you before that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! What could be better than a day with such great food and Cowboys football? This day is of course about so much more than just that. This is a day we gather with family and friends to give thanks for all the many blessings we enjoy. I love this day because it reminds us of a posture to keep year-round. Through Christ we have been brought into the family of God. Each day we experience the grace and mercy of God and should give thanks. All of our thanksgiving todayfinds its source in giving thanks to God for his love. God’s love transcends all the things of this world! This is why Thanksgiving brings me so much joy and hope. For our family, this Thanksgiving feels very different. Like many of you, we are celebrating with an empty seat at our table and a hole in our hearts. We miss our Mom, but in a way that can only be described as the mystery of God, our sadness reminds us of how much we have to be thankful for. It reminds us to look forward to that day when all things will be made new and live for that day! Our thanksgiving before God is not contingent upon our earthly circumstances. We give thanks in all things because we know that all things work together for our good, and all things will be made new! My prayer this morning for you this Thanksgiving is that you would remember God’s great love for you todayand know the hope his love has secured. I pray that you experience his love through family, friends, and all of his good gifts today.I pray that you would be filled not just with food today, but with the fullness of God!
