As Parents it is so important for us to capitalize on every opportunity we can to remind our children of the Gospel and help them see how God is at work in their lives.  The night before school starts is a great time to have a gospel conversation!

As you gather around the dinner table or the put your kids in bed here are a few great conversation starters to close out the summer. Take advantage of this day to worship God through praise and pray together for this next season of life.

1. Share your high’s & low’s for the summer. Praise God for the highs! Ask how the low’s brought you closer to God.
2. What are you asking God to do in this next school year? How can we pray together as a family and ask God to deliver on this?
3. How can you share the love of Christ tomorrow at your school? How can we consider others greater than ourselves practically at school? Ask God to give your family eyes to see as God sees.

Finally, as you pray for your child, I encourage you to remind your child of the gospel. They are about to enter back into the world where they are judged so much by their performance. This is a great time to remind them that their identity, their acceptance, their lovability is not based in anyway on grades, wins, or any of the metrics of the world. Remind them that we are fully known and fully loved by our Heavenly Father who created us. Through Christ we have been adopted by the King.

Praying with you for a great conversation with your family and for God to move through his children in powerful ways this next school year!
